John West campaign notches up honours
John West’s ‘Brain Food’ campaign has been named the NNI Press Ad of the Month for May. The two-ad campaign, which consists of ‘Hive’ and ‘Railings’ and was created by the Boys and Girls agency, is John West’s first for over 10 years. The ads were shot by photographer Adrian Stewart and the campaign media planning was handled by Mediaworks.
The campaign ran from 24 May to 6 June and is due to run again for another two weeks in September.
The NNI’s press ad competition for May was judged by Ger Roe of Publicis QMP and Shay Keany of ZenithOptimedia, with the assistance of judging panel chair Maeve Donovan. The winning entry was decided on Friday 16 July.
“It’s great to see John West back advertising and this is a smart, simple campaign featuring a nice little insight,” said Roe. “It’s also good to see an agency back doing what advertising is good at – communicating a solid truth about the product. Great shots, good art direction and it makes you smile.”
Donovan said the John West campaign communicates a serious message in an attractive, amusing style. The ‘Railings’ ad was also yesterday selected as print ad of the week by Luerzers Archive and was named best outdoor ad of the month by Bestadsontv.com in June.
