Auditions
At Take2, we receive audition breakdowns on a regular basis, and send suitable client’s headshots to be screened by the casting director privately, often only one or two if any of the clients get called up to audition based on their ‘look’. We do not inform clients when we do this as we are sending out hundreds every month and it would not be realistic. However, when directors are looking for a widerange of artistes with various ‘looks’ and/or experience we will place them on this page. So keep an eye out for auditions & jobs you may be interested.

Hi guys, my name is Eamonn Tutty and I am getting in touch about a project we’re prepping.
We are entering a competition to shoot a short film for Danny Elfman (The Corpse Bride, The Simpsons, A Nightmare Before Christmas) in which we have to use a piece of his music. Our idea ‘The Emerald Stone’ tells the story of two kids; Sarah & Cian, who stay over- night with their grandmother, who tells them the story behind a trinket she has; The Emerald Stone, that it once belonged to the fairies who created it to become ‘big’ again like they once were but because they could not work together the stone did not work. The kids are staying over- night due to their parents arguing, and Sarah feels like no one pays attention to her. That night she wishes she was big so she could run away, as no one even notices her and then she throws the stone out the window when it doesn’t work. The next morning when she awakes she finds that sometimes wishes become blurred, and she finds herself and her brother two inches tall. They will have to work together over coming obstacles to reach the stone in the garden and wish to return back to normal size. However a surprise lays in store when we see what Cian wished for.
This is going to be a mix of live action, stop motion animation and green screen vfx. ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ meets ‘Small Soliders’.
As it is a competition and not a commercial project we don’t have a budget. Below is a link to our promo we shot on no budget for our TV show in development with Grand Pictures (Moone Boy):

CASTING CALL for SHORT FILM
‘LILY’ is a short film that centres on bullying of LGBT teens in a school environment. It will be directed by award winning director Graham Cantwell (Anton, The Callback Queen, A Dublin Story). Filming will take place over 4 days in mid February.
As it will be made as part of the Filmbase Masters course, it will have a micro budget, so only expenses will be covered.
There are 4 parts being cast. If you are interested in being seen please email auditions@filmventure.co.uk indicating which part you would like to read for. Also include a recent photograph (doesn’t need to be professionally taken).
We will be asking actors to self tape a scene to be uploaded, following which we will invite selected actors to audition in person.
LILY – Lead (18-20 to play 17) Schoolgirl in her final year of secondary school. Lily is a young gay girl who has not yet come out to her friends or family. She is sensitive and vulnerable, with a hidden strength that only manifests after she is confronted by bullies. Pretty in a subtle, natural way, she is confident in her looks but doesn’t like to show it. As there is a scene involving simulated violence we will only accept submissions from actors 18 or over.
SIMON – Principal (17 years old) Schoolboy in his final year of secondary school. Simon has been out for a while and revels in his sexual identity. He enjoys confronting people’s prejudices in an “in your face” way and is constantly in trouble with the teachers at school. He is a fiercely loyal friend, and will go out of his way to help someone in trouble.
VIOLET – Principal (18-20 to play 17) Schoolgirl in her final year of secondary school. Very beautiful, Violet is used to being the centre of attention. She comes across a little crass and vulgar, but this is an attempt to cover her underlying insecurities. She has a reputation for being loose, and encourages male attention, but in fact she is not as experienced as she likes people to think. As there is a scene involving simulated violence we will only accept submissions from actors 18 or over.
EMER – Support (18-20 to play 17) Schoolgirl in her final year of secondary school. A big girl, with an imposing presence, Emer has been made to feel unattractive by the skinnier girls in her class throughout her school years. This has led to her becoming cold and at times cruel. The girls who hang around with her are terrified of her mood swings, and live in constant fear of abuse from her, verbal and physical, but she has a charisma that draws people to her. As there is a scene involving simulated violence we will only accept submissions from actors 18 or over.

Fishpond is coming to Take 2!
The Fishpond Team is holding an exclusive sign up day for students of Take 2.
Fishpond, Ireland’s premier casting database, was launched back in 2008 by Ali Coffey, one of the country’s busiest casting directors.
With 5 years under our belt bringing opportunities to adult Irish actors, we were keen to include tiny and teen thespians, so in 2013 we launched Pondlings aka Young Fishpond and it’s been growing ever since!
There are over 600 different companies and individuals who cast projects including Film, TV, Theatre, Commercials, Corporate Videos, Music Videos etc. through the site.
Some recent jobs cast through the pond include: Black Sails (U.S. TV Series), The Field (Theatre), Hello Kitty Live (Theatre), The Fixer (Feature Film), Marine Rookies (Documentary), the current Eir commercial, as well as commercials for Trivago, Lotto, Barry’s Tea, 3 Mobile, Smyths, BMW, Meteor
and many more..
Often casting directors choose to search through the site rather than sending a brief to the agents which means anyone who’s not on Fishpond can’t be found.
So if your child
or teen
loves to act, now is the time to jump into the pond!
Everyone who signs up will receive a personal profile page where you can add photos, videos and all sorts of info about yourself. You can even add a self taped audition to your profile. Here are some examples of current profiles.
http://fishpond.ie/darragh_otoole
http://fishpond.ie/robertd
http://fishpond.ie/caitlin_richardson
Pamela can then use these lovely links when submitting you
/you
r child for an audition.
At
Fishpond, we like to offer a personal touch, so myself and the team are on hand to help you by phone or email with any issues at all. We understand that a faceless website just won’t cut it when you’re dealing with your kids.
Our Techies ensure new features are being added all the time and glitches are ironed out daily.
Our State of the art custom built platform has security at its core. We know how important it is to keep information confidential when kids are involved. No last names
(for under 16s)
or contact info
ever displays and only casting users approved by us have access.
And our Promoters are constantly launching new campaigns and initiatives to ensure Fishpond is on the desktop of everyone casting.
Now on to the day itself:
We’ll start by answering any questions about how the site works and we’ll explain how to get the very best out of your Fishpond profile before talking about our favourite thing…auditions.
So come armed with any question you fancy asking about auditions, shoots, headshots, acting etc.
We’ll be offering an exclusive discounted rate for students of Take 2 and we’ll sign you up there and then. We’ll even have a further discount for families.
We love casting and are proud to proclaim a combined 20 years of experience so you know you’re in safe hands.
Just register your interest with Pamela and we’ll look forward to seeing you there.
Scaly Kiss,
Katy and
The Fishpond Team
We’re rooting for you!

Cardel Entertainment, an Irish film production company are helping to support Irish student filmmaker Megan K. Fox, an MA Directing student at the Met Film School London, to realize her graduation film BATTLE. BATTLE is an uplifting and life-affirming short film about fighting depression through music, written and directed by Megan K. Fox. We choose to support this particular project as Megan shows talent and determination as a young up & coming Irish female director and writer. Also because Megan’s short story highlights the stigma that surrounds teenage depression. We, at Cardel Entertainment, are supporting this project as we believe the stigma that surrounds mental health is an issue that needs to be continuously highlighted and discussed so youth can find a way to reach out and seek help. The Story The story follows a creative young girl called Molly as she prepares herself to perform on stage at her school ‘Battle of the Bands’. Through her performance she will face her demons and prove to herself that she is strong enough to pursue happiness in the face of her battle with depression. There is a casting this week and if you have any one on your books you think may suit any of the roles as below please feel free to share! CASTING FOR SHORT FILM Casting taking place THIS WEEK in DUBLIN, if you are interested in auditioning for a role, please email info@cardelentertainment.com with BATTLE-SHORT FILM in the SUBJECT LINE • Molly – female lead – playing age 14-17 Molly is a white, middle class, fifteen year old girl who suffers from depression. Molly is beginning to grow and change as a person having found friends who support her despite her mental illness. When we meet her she is torn between becoming the strong young woman she hopes to be as she builds her confidence through musical expression, and still feeling like the emotionally pained little girl that she has always been. In the past she has felt inadequate in so many ways. As an only child she feels the weight of not being capable of living up to her parents expectations of her. She thinks differently to her peers, she is highly sensitive and finds herself often fixating on things that others don’t seem to consider in their daily lives. She is an incredibly strong and determined young lady despite her painful past and she is willing to do whatever it takes to prove her strength and worth to herself and others. *NB: It is preferable that the actress cast to play Molly has a strong singing voice. • Mia – female supporting actor – playing age 14-17 Mia is the drummer in Molly’s band. She goes to the same school as Molly and has been ostracized in the same way by her peers, but she is comfortable with being different. She enjoys people calling her ‘weird’ and is never fazed by their idiotic comments about her looks. She is confident and while she is still young and finding herself, she feels that she knows who she is. She is a good friend who wants to support Molly in the same way that her family has supported her. - Percy – 9-11 years old. Percy is Ariadne’s only friend. He is everything that Ariadne isn’t; happy-go-lucky, playful and chatty. He pops up at numerous points during Ariadne’s adventure to check up with her and each time he has just been in the middle of some outdoor activity, be it cycling, football etc
- Mrs Woolf – 45-55 years old. Mrs Woolf very much wears the trousers in her relationship. She is stern and tough with a strict disposition and yet she cocoons Ariadne in a bubble of safety. She has an odd quirk in that she has a penchant for garden gnomes. She doesn’t even notice that her daughter has gone missing because she’s so set upon finding who’s been robbing her gnomes. However it is this love for her gnomes that hints to her possessing a softer side.
Title: “It’s Luke”
Director: Conor Hamil
Synopsis: Luke Fisher, 19, cares for his Mam, 58, with alzheimer’s dementia in an isolated country house. His mother’s worsening condition has been greatly affecting Luke’s own mental health and it begins to worsen when his estranged older brother Tommy, 30, arrives home with unknown intentions.
Roles:
- LUKE FISHER: Role on offer.
- TOMMY FISHER: Tommy lacks responsibility. He left home to work abroad at the very early stages of his Mam’s dementia so as not to be tied down by a sense of moral duty. While feeling some remorse for his long absence, he tries to justify himself by sending money home to his brother every few months.
- MAM: Mam has middle stage Alzheimer’s dementia. Very little of her old self remains. Her internal struggles have turned her into a shell of a woman and this has had a massive impact on Luke.
Title: “Subs”
Director: Anthony Assad
Synopsis: Tim and Sammy are accustomed to watching their lives unfold from the side-lines both on and off the field until they find themselves waiting by the roadside post game with only each other for company, when minutes become hours and there still isn’t a sign of their parents they decide to team up and take matters into their own hands.
Roles:
- TIM (10-13y/o) Tim is a shy and introverted child who prefers reading over playing sports. He often daydreams during matches and is more than happy to sit out games as a substitute. When his breif stint as goalie throws the game he’s left embarrassed with nowhere to hide as the loud and proud striker who scored the goal against him is his only company.
- SAMMY (10-13y/o) Sammy is brash, foolhardy and often the leader of any pack he loiters with. He shines on the field but unfortunately he often forgets about the other players and trashes out violently whenever bested by the opposition. He scores the winning goal but the excitement descends into boredom when dim Tim turns out to be the only other player left waiting by the roadside.

| Star Wars’ Dublin Auditions Moved to Croke Park this Sat 23rd & Sun 24th November | |||||
Dublin auditions for two major roles in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ have been moved to Croke Park Stadium this Sat 23rd and Sun 24th November, in a change to the original venue of Filmbase in Temple Bar due to the enormous crowds expected to attend.
The auditions will take place between 11am and 3pm, with entry via St Joseph’s Avenue gate off Conliffe Road, Dublin, from 8am onwards – and overnight camping & queuing strictly prohibited due to the extreme weather conditions. Whereas the previous casting announcement had ambiguously referred to a major Disney movie, Ms Claire Curry of UK Casting Call has now confirmed that the auditions are indeed for ‘Star Wars’. Women aged 17-18 years old and men 19-23 years old are being sought for the two roles – so lifelong middle-aged Star Wars fans are advised that they may be wasting their time turning up dressed like Jedi knights, lightsabers in hand. Applicants are advised to bring along a headshot photo of themselves, but it need not be professionally taken. The following are the two casting descriptions for anyone who missed them first time round: Seeking: Young woman to play 17-18 Years old. Must be beautiful, smart and athletic. Open to all ethnicities (including bi- and multi-racial). Must be 16 or over. RACHEL: Was quite young when she lost her parents. With no other family, she was forced to make her way alone in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17 she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humour and guts to get by. Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead. Seeking:Young man to play 19-23 years old. Must be handsome, smart and athletic. Must be 18 or over. THOMAS: Has grown up without a father’s influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn’t have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this, he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can’t take life too seriously.

Cyclone Rep Auditions / Stage work- Cork – [Paid]
Director: Peadar Donohoe
Cyclone Rep is looking for two young actors – a male and a female. Actors can be in their 20’s but the younger looking the better. Would be best if the actor could pass for a teenager but not absolutely necessary.
Actors will need to prepare two one minute contrasting pieces: One Shakespeare and one modern with one piece being dramatic and the other comic.
In Addition to this Cyclone is looking for these two young actors to establish a long term relationship with the company. Cyclone has an ethos of developing its talent’s creativity, collaborative skills and performance chops with a view to including them in many of its theatrical offerings. So, if successful applicants demonstrate reliability and a hard-working ethos then Cyclone would be looking to work on further projects with such actors. “Show Off Or Get Off” is hitting the road again in search of talented 8-13 year olds.
Following the huge success of last years’ nationwide talent search, the “Show Off Or Get Off” team are preparing to hit the road once again in the hope of finding Ireland’s most talented and entertaining 8-13 year olds. The “Show Off Or Get Off” winner will get to perform their winning act live on RTÉ’s Elev8 and will also get to co-host the show for a day!
We are looking for all types of acts! Singers, dancers, comedians, unicyclists, jugglers… all are welcome!
How the process works:

The production team will travel to the nationwide locations to film the auditions. All auditions will be filmed on the day and will be given an equal opportunity to perform in front of the cameras. The auditions will be done strictly on a first come first served basis. In order to keep wait times to a minimum, all acts will be restricted to one minute. After filming has taken place across the twelve locations, the producers will select five acts from each location. The five acts selected will be shown on Elev8 along with a clip depicting the entire day’s filming. Although we would love to include everybody who auditions, this is simply not possible. We will do our best to try and include as many acts as we can. The elev8 audience will then have a week to cast their online vote for their favourite act. The two acts from each location that received the most votes from each location will progress to the next round of the competition.
The auditions will travel to a number of locations around the country including:
Dublin
Drogheda
Dundalk
Carlow
Cork
Limerick
Athlone
Galway
Sligo
Bray
For further information on the show, or to contact the programme producers in relation to an act, write, phone or email the “Show Off Or Get Off” team.
