Pamela Hughes A.L.C.M., L.L.S.M.D., L.I.B.S.D., F.I.B.S.D.

Pamela Hughes runs a very successful Drama School which was established in 1988.The ‘Take2 Performing Arts School’ was opened in 2009 and the school now offers classes in musical theatre, drama, dance & singing.

Pamela has been involved in performing arts all her life, she attended Drama classes from the tender age of 3 and thus the story began. Pamela was a member of Irish Actors Equity for many years and tread the boards both on stage and screen.

Pamela studied in the Royal Irish Academy of Music & Drama with Actress Aileen Harte for many years, and secured her diploma with the London College of music. She attended the Gaiety school of Acting under the tuition of Joe Dowling & Pat Laffan. Pamela then went on to study in the Leinster School of Music & Drama and was awarded her Licentiate.

She worked in the ‘Adam Acting Academy’ and was involved in producing & directing shows for them. Pamela also worked as a make-up artist in the Olympia, Gaiety and Abbey Theatre.

Pamela started working as a casting agent in the early 1990s and in 2009 rebranded the agency to ‘Take2 Casting Agency’ which has been well received in the industry. The agency specialises in young artistes, from babies to 25 years approx.

Pamela is a long time member of ‘Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland’ (Formerly known as I.D.A.C. Institute of drama & communication), having served on the board for 5 years.

Pamela went back to the books (2009) and was awarded a Licentiate & Fellowship from the Irish Board of Speech & Drama; ‘it’s never too late to learn and broaden your mind, I now empathise even more with my students at exam time’.

Pamela is currently kept busy casting, teaches in her school,is director in the performing arts school, adjudicates at various Drama Festivals around Ireland, is an examiner for the Irish Board of speech & Drama, and works on a consultancy basis as a communication coach.
